Tracker 1&2 Control Center Wind Turbine Studio Roof Home Hardware Diagram Our battery bank can contain 1,000 amp hours at 48 volt, 10 hour rate value. Something over 1,150 amp hours at 20 hour rate. Our Sunny Island grid control give us continuous 10,000 watt power, or 5 KVA, and 16,000 watts available to start motors and compressors from the battery bank or will handle 56 AMPS each, continuous, to the grid. Our system now has 6.2 KW solar PV and 3 KW wind power and is "GRID TIED". We are grid feeding our excess solar and wind power.
Total rated generation 9.2 KW, total continuous grid feed potential 10 KW. Although the Whisper 500 wind turbine is rated for 3.2 KW, after two years of data logging the best continuous generation average is just over 1 KW/h. Our PV normally generates 82% of rated with good conditions and the wind power generates 33% during "rare" best conditions. Cloud lenzing and cold sunny conditions can bring PV generation to nearly 100% of rated. Sunny Island architecture will derate PV generation to accommodate excess wind generation, on those rare occasions of sunny and windy conditions, regulating grid feed to the maximum 10 KW.
Due to Sunny Island architecture, on a sunny day there is available to the protected distribution panel 10,000 watts continuous from batteries and 6,000 watts from PV. The turbine generation only counts through the Sunny Island and is not additive. The PV generation is additive because of the three separate inverters supplying power directly to the protected distribution panel. The extra inverters DO NOT see the grid, so only 10,000 watts is available to the net meter. Power generation from all three Sunny Boys and the turbine can be grid feed power 'maximum 10 KW' through Sunny Island control, at the same time.
