October 16, 2007. We stopped work on the house, prepared our wood supply and furnace for winter, and now TRACKER INSTALLATION BEGINS! We are installing two Wattsun AZ 125 trackers with 12 KC 130w panels each, hooked through 1 SMA Technologies SUNNY BOY 1800w 120vac Inverter per tracker, combined to create 240vac.

We plan two tracker towers with built in electronics grottos for protection from grass fires and the elements. Each tower contains 6 cubic yards of concrete to firmly anchor the 6" pipe to bed rock. A 4' square footing 1.5' thick, 4' diameter octagon tower 6' high surrounding the pipe, and a 6.5' diameter roof of concrete  6" thick on the edges and 9" thick at the center. The pipe is also filled with concrete to 6" from the top. Holes are drilled into the bed rock and 1/2" rebar are driven in to secure the footing to earth. This should support PV panels through several generations and any super cell or a near direct hit from tornados. We plan to reuse the forms to build the anchors for our wind turbine tower.
