Note the ground wire connected to the pipe column base. We have two ground rods per each tracker base, due to shallow bed rock, both for the pipe and tracker frame. The electronics system must be grounded by one point only, at the control inverters, to reduce the chance of problems due to voltage differences between AC and DC sides of the system in the event of a close lightning strike; http://www.wholesalesolar.com/pdf.folder/Download%20folder/lightning%26grounding.pdf This is our second tracker base going up! And finally a photo of our concrete plant. We also fill the pipe with concrete, leaving 6" open at the top for the bearing housing that protrudes into the top of the pipe. This gives us a super strong base to survive a 150+ mph wind.
